Class Overviews

Vehicle Spy Basics – This course provides an introduction to the basic capabilities of Vehicle Spy. You will start with a hands-on session on loading databases, using Messages View, filtering data and transmitting messages. You will also engage in activities like signal plotting and creating graphical panels. With a mix of brief lectures and hands-on tutorials, this course will help you gain confidence navigating and utilizing key features of Vehicle Spy for data analysis and management. See class outline here.

Vehicle Spy 3 Scripting (Function Blocks)– This course will teach students how to write scripts in Vehicle Spy’s Function Blocks environment. It also covers some more advanced Vehicle Spy features such as miscellaneous I/O and advanced logger configuration. Like the Basics course, it consists of brief lectures and hands-on tutorials, and students have time to ask application-specific questions. See class outline here.

Vehicle Spy 10BASE-T1S– This course offers an introduction to Ethernet basics with a focus on 10BASE-T1S. Covering the physical layer, Physical Layer Collision Avoidance (PLCA), line encoding and burst mode. This course includes a hands-on walkthrough of node count and transmit opportunity. You will set up RAD-Comet2, observe received frames, create and transmit messages and observe special symbols on the bus. See class outline here.

Data Logging Training – The cost of test vehicles has forced OEMs and suppliers to decrease their testing fleets; engineers are forced to share more, and do more with less vehicle time. Logging data from test vehicles has become crucial in validation and testing. To support these needs, Intrepid now offers Data Logger Training for both wireless and standalone data capture. See class outline here.

SOME/IP– This course provides an in-depth overview of service-oriented middleware over IP, highlighting the transition from traditional signal-based communication to service-based approaches, with a focus on the publisher-subscriber model, remote procedure calls, event notifications, and method calls. Participants will explore the structure and functionality of the SOME/IP protocol, including its header format and mechanisms for efficient service discovery, enabling seamless communication and interoperability in distributed systems. See class outline here.

Automotive Ethernet Training –   Automotive Ethernet continues to grow immensely in the number of applications, creating new roles and opportunities in many OEM and Tier 1 companies. This class is designed to provide experience with Ethernet, Automotive applications, and, hands-on experience with its associated tools. It is ideal for engineers, technical specialists, engineering managers, and others who intend to design, integrate, debug, or test Automotive Ethernet networks and applications. See class outline here.

CAN FD Training – CAN FD is a new enhancement to Controller Area Networking that enables larger data payloads and faster data rates than standard CAN. Intrepid’s CAN FD Training will provide you with all the details about CAN FD and a comparison of the new technology to the traditional CAN networks with which you may already be familiar. See class outline here. Cost: Free to customers, when taken at ICS HQ.CAN Training – The CAN course introduces the student to Controller Area Network technology. CAN is a powerful network that is a key element in advanced automotive electronics. This class will give you the basic awareness you need to understand CAN and keep pace with recent developments. The course has been highly successful – we have trained hundreds of engineers in this technology. See class outline here. Cost: Cost: Free to customers, when taken at ICS HQ.

CAN CAN/FD Training –   Controller Area Network (CAN) is a powerful technology that serves as a primary communications network on most modern vehicles. This class will give you the basic knowledge you need to get up to speed with CAN. Controller Area Network with Flexible Data-Rate (CAN/FD) is an extension of CAN that enables larger data payloads and faster data rates than standard CAN. Intrepid’s CAN CAN/FD Training will provide you with all the details about CAN CAN/FD as well as comparisons. See class outline here.

LIN Training – LIN (Local Interconnect Network) is a vehicle bus standard used within current automotive network architectures. Students will learn all about LIN in this class. See class outline here.

Gateway Training A Gateway is a method to transfer messages from one communication bus to another. This course will show you how to use an easy to use drag and drop GUI application within Vehicle Spy Enterprise version that allows you to create complex CAN and LIN gateway functions that can be programmed into CoreMini of our hardware products. See class outline here. See class outline here.

Reverse Engineering – Reverse Engineering Vehicle Network Communications Course is structured to teach users how to effectively monitor the vehicle’s network communications including ECU to ECU traffic (normal communications), diagnostic traffic, as well as monitoring ECU sensor and memory data. See class outline and cost here.
