Intrepid’s RAD-Moon 3 is the latest Ethernet Media Converter for Automotive Ethernet applications. The RAD-Moon 3 converts the Ethernet physical layer from MultiGBASE-T1 to MultiGBASE-T. This is needed to directly connect a PC equipped with the standard 8-wire Ethernet to an automotive ECU or Switch which use the 2-wire version of Ethernet specific to In-Vehicle Networks. (IVNs)

    • Bar graph display of MultiGBASE-T1 Signal Quality Indicator (SQI) in real-time
  • Membrane buttons allowing device configuration without software
    • Switch between 2.5G, 5G, and 10G link speeds
    • Select the MultiGBASE-T1 PHY clock configuration
  • Uses the H-MTD connection system designed for MultiGBASE-T1
  • 6-40V power range, compatible with in-vehicle power from barrel jack.
  • Ruggedized USB Type-C connector for device configuration and firmware updates
  • PHY register monitoring and updating over USB using Vehicle Spy or Intrepid’s Open Source API

Connecting a PC directly to an automotive ECU using the RAD-Moon 3 is useful for simulating other vehicle nodes, performing direct diagnostics, or ECU reflashing.

The registers of the MultiGBASE-T1 PHY can be accessed for direct control and monitoring of its operation, as well as enable test and diagnostic modes.*
