Messages Editor: Overview

Messages Editor is where you specify which messages you are looking for in your message traffic and which messages you want to transmit.  There are many different properties you can specify for each message.

Access Messages Editor by selecting it from the "Vehicle Networks" main menu item .

You can add messages for any network.  Select the desired network from the dropdown, click "+", and then type in the message.  Or, when using the Messages view, select any message, right click on its icon, and add it to the desired table.  You can even load messages and signals from a Database

Signal values don't have to come from a network, they can be automatically calculated by an Application Signal or filled in by scripting.  They also can be filled in by DAQ Hardware.

The Messages Editor grid has many typical spreadsheet features including: clipboard operations, undo, and sorting.  These tools can be found in the toolbox along the top of Messages Editor view (Figure 2).  Many of these features are also supported with a handy right click menu.
